GOALcfl Membership Meeting Reminder! Be sure to mark your calendar. The meeting will be at the Communications Workers of America Hall located at 2220 Edgewater Drive, Orlando FL. We will have an amazing guest speaker, Julie Callahan. Julie is the Executive Director of TCOPS…. TCOPS stands for Transgender Community of Police & Sheriffs, which is an international group that has 36 countries represented in its organization. Zoom invites will be sent upon request.
We are devastated and outraged by the death of Tyre Nichols following the hateful and disgraceful actions of five members of the Memphis Police Department. The criminal decisions made by those officers not only took a life, but they deeply wounded a family and fractured the trust between the community and law enforcement as a whole. Although it does not restore the life taken, we are happy to know that all of the officers involved were terminated and that all the officers involved were charged and will face punishment for their actions.
Terrible acts such as this undermine the trust that GOALcfl seeks to reinforce between law enforcement agencies in Central Florida and the communities that we serve, because we know that a bad cop anywhere erodes trust in all cops everywhere. Importantly, we remain committed to working towards justice, equity, and equality within the area of law enforcement, and serving our Central Florida community in a way that builds trust and understanding with not only the LGBTQ+ community, but all people within Central Florida.

As we kick off the new year, it’s time to pay your 2023 GOALcfl membership dues. A hyperlink was sent to our current members in order for you to make a payment. If your agency is paying them for you, please reach out to our Treasurer, Amanda, so she can generate an invoice for your agency (treasurer@goalcfl.org). Also include a point of contact for her to email the invoice to. As a reminder, professional members are $30.00 and associate members are $15.00. Each quarter, members will be announced in the membership spotlight announcement! GOALcfl would like to announce Robin and Jennifer Petrie as our December 2022 GOALcfl spotlights.
Robin and Jennifer became members of GOALcfl to assist in GOALcfl’s mission to support, educate and promote a positive relationship between LGBTQ+ law enforcement professionals and the community. Through Robin’s position with her agency and being a LGBTQ+ Liaison, she was able to help members of the community in their times of need. With that, her desire to do more with the community led them both to GOALcfl!
Robin and Jennifer can always be found at GOALcfl events and bringing new sponsors into our organization. In their free time, they enjoy spending time with their three kids, pictured in the photo below!
